Across the bridge there is an elegant cloistered 16th century convent which is now an art museum, and the cobbled alley leads naturally into the beautiful leafy Plaza Duquesa de Parcent which has a convent, two churches and the handsome town hall.
Nearby calle Armiñan leads down to the large plaza San Francisco which is full of excellent bars and restaurants. Back from the Mondragón the Plaza del Campillo overlooks steps that zigzag down through the Puente Nuevo, and further on is the town's pedestrianised calle Espinel, which is opposite the bullring and is where you can find the shops.
